What does a carbon credit consultant actually do?
A carbon credit consultant helps you decide which carbon credits to buy or develop, navigate the standards (Verra, Gold Standard, CDM, GCC, I-REC), and structure offsets in a way that holds up under audit and stakeholder scrutiny. At Natural Credits we also cover the broader carbon program — footprint, reduction, disclosure — so credits sit inside a strategy rather than as a one-off purchase.
How is your team different from a brokerage?
Brokerages earn on volume — their incentive is to sell more credits. We’re an independent advisor — our incentive is to recommend the right credits, even if that’s fewer or a different vintage. We don’t take revenue share from project developers, and we’re happy to defend every recommendation in writing.
Do I need a consultant for a small offset purchase?
For a small one-off purchase, often you don’t — a reputable marketplace will do. The cost of a consultant makes sense once you’re making claims, reporting publicly, hitting six figures of spend, or considering project investment. Then due diligence and methodology fluency start to matter a lot.
